Nanny McPhee

Hi everyone,
Just went and seen Nanny McPhee this morning and I thought it was a really great movie! Got up early and seen the early bird session with my Mum and Nephew. I reckon the story line was a bit of a mixture of The Sound Of Music (Father of 7 children who's wife died and has trouble with finding, or keeping rather, a Nanny) and also Mary Poppins (Nanny with Magical Powers, and Nanny who helps family until they don't need her anymore.)
My nephew thought it was ok but a bit boring, but I think that's just because it didn't have a fight scene in it or something. He loves movies with Action Galore in it! Anyway, Mum and I really liked it a lot! Has anyone else seen it? What do you all think? From Contiki.

I have never actually heard of it. Do I need to get out more?? The only ads I've been seeing lately are for Chicken Little. I don't think my boys would like it. Am interested too though to hear other's thoughts.

Chicken Little is a great movie - there's a fantastic scene with aliens invading, so your boys might like it, Barbara.

I haven't seen Nanny McFee - I was going to wait until it came out on DVD.

My daughter's class went to see Nanny Mcfee with her class for their end of year break up party and she loved it ( she's 9).

My mum took Miss 5 and Mr 6 to see Chicken Little and they all loved it.

I'd like to go and see Narnia, hope it's still on when the kids go back to school otherwise I'll have to wait for the DVD

Hi Mel35, when your daughter saw Nanny McPhee with school for their end of year break up party, was it an Advanced Screening, or something? See, when I looked it up on net to see when it was on, the advertisement said that it didn't start until January 27th but actually was on January 12th when we saw it. How strange! Was tossing up which kids movie to take my 3 nephews to on Tuesday...

I love Emma Thompson and Colin Farrell, and I think the 10 year old and 8 year would love, might be a big much for a six year old...will see what there mother says...

I have seen all the girlie ones recently....Rumour Has It and Family Stone, both good but Family Stone much better...

Hanging to see Memors of a Geisha...it looks great, lets hope they stuck to the book...

Brokeback Mountain has been causing lots of controversy...nothing is really shown...why the church gets so up in arms I have no idea...and yet they will show a movie like "Hostel" - has anyone heard of this????

It comes out here in February, and is based on a true story...about 3 backpackers that get caught up in a porn house, that then turns into murder, but not just any murder, men pay to torture other people, well apparantly they show it all...was feeding a review about it and had to stop as it was very specific, so we have hard porn, torture, horror and murder all in a movie...why ??? I have no idea, it has been making millions in America...and has been endorsed by Quention Tarantino (he had nothing to really do with it) but his name has helped sell it...I think showing two men in love is a little less harmless than watching and hearing screams of torture of someone having fingers and toes cuts off and eyes pulled out...the part that really gets me is that people pay to go and watch this crap?????? Go figure....but then I thought all this about Saw and Saw 2...I really hate horror movies...

You mean Emma Thompson and Colin Firth (not Farrell)! Sorry to pick you up! Just thought it was a funny image in my head picturing Colin Farrell as the father in Nanny McPhee! LOL
Don't think I'd like to see that movie "Hostel" you said about. I hate gorrey movies like that too. I heard about Saw, and it was so horrible what I heard, so I'm definently not going to watch that one. Another yucky one is The Bone Collector! If you haven't seen it, I wouldn't suggest watching it. Yep meant Colin Firth...sorry the one out of Bridget Jones...

The last time I saw a horror movie was when I went to a friends slumber party when I was about 12 and they hired Friday 13th...I went home terrified...my parents were furious, as it took weeks for me to come normal again...I was acting like a 4 year old with nightmares and thought I was going to be murdered...I have never watch horror since...I just don't understand how watching someone be murdered is thrilling...I can barely watch murder mysteries...I tend to scream at the silliest things (my ex loved going to movies to see one to these) I hated them...and tend not to bother...we live in a world where enough bad things happen on the news and in the papers, so for me going to the movies should be light and easy or have a reason, like based on someones life for instance - just my opinion...

Alexa, I'm so glad I'm not the only one! The last horror movie I saw I was about 14 & also had nightmares - I refuse to watch horror movies now... I even got myself excused from Media class when they were watching & studying horror movies! I couldn't even write one - my horror story ended up being a romance between a monster & a lady
