Period Pain/Bloating - need help!
Hello, if you have any solutions for period pain (in the lower abdomen, lower back), and bloating (upto 2-3 kilos before my period), please provide suggestions. Not only am I in pain, I feel horrible as I don't know what I can take to reduce the bloating and water retention during this time.
Thanks!!

Have you seen a Gyno...this could indicate something that needs investigation.
Other than that....rest, hot water bottle and plenty of TLC.Weather it be or weather it not Heather complains 'cause it's far from hot

I used to get severe Pre menstrual cramps and other symptoms and evening primrose oil capsules worked really well for me

I take Panadol, eat some chocolate, have a cup of tea and go to bed. Sorry I'm not much use to you. Good luck with it.
PS - I do love a lavendar heat pack across my abdomen though! Seems to provide some comfort.Kekka

i get it so bad that i sometimes wake up in the middle of the night crying hysterically from pain! take some pain killers and i also use a heating pad that works remarkably for me! i don't bloat much, even though i feel fat, lol, so i can't help you with that.

Re: Period Pain/Bloating - need help!
Hi there,
I used to get pain really bad too but since I started on the pill it has eased heaps... if you are not on it already then it might be an idea.
I still get pain and bloating and I take Naprogesic for this, it's great and only about $7 from the pharmacy. It takes away all the pain - but not the bloating, I'm not sure if there is even anything you can take for it. Maybe someone else out there has an idea??
Good luck (I feel your pain)

Definitely a heat pack/wheat bag and if you prefer to use a natural medicine, Tang Quai (or Dong Quai) is brilliant. It is a chinese herbal muscle relaxant and works really well
I've used it for a few years now and nothing has worked better.
Good luck - I hope you work something out

Re: Period Pain/Bloating - need help!
I can get very bad with mine, I have tried pretty much everything suggested by the ladies, with no relief.
I have to take strong pain killers.
Remember to keep up your clear fluids and reduce salt in your diet.
Also you could try elevating your feet above the height of the rest of your body, eg lay on your back on the floor with your feet restung up on the lounge.
goodluck

Re: Period Pain/Bloating - need help!
Contraceptive has helped a lot and the type I'm on, I control my cycle and can eliminate it entirely if I want to. They said it's safe to do it for up to a year but after about three missed cycles, I tend to get a bit nuts with it, so I just end up having a period once every three months.

I don't get severe period pain and I haven't noticed any bloating (spare tyre covers it up
) but for the pain I do get, I just use heat packs or take an anti-inflammatory and that helps a lot.
