The relevance of beauty salons
$125 for a 20 minute facial.
$36 for a leg wax
$70 for a bikini wax...
I question the relevance of beauty salons today when they charge this much.
What are your experiences?

Re: The relevance of beauty salons
I used to work in one.
Which is why I marvel at the pricelists.
Believe me, the profit margins are HUGE.

Have never felt the need to waste money on such things. Razor is far cheaper - DIY.
Facial $125 - utterly hilarious. Put some egg white on your face and cucumbers or tea bags on your eyes and have a very cheap rest for the same results.

Re: The relevance of beauty salons
I have been to a salon but only twice and we have a local one here it is fairly reasonable prices. I had a facial before my high school formal and got my eyelashes dyed (definatly not DIYing that) to try and help treat my pimples and again when I got back from uni holidays and my skin was totally out of whack and my pimples were REALLY bad to try and get rid of them.
I have also had a spa and massage paid for me by my BF one year for valentines.
We got my mum a really expensive facial/massage for her chrissy present last year. I really think it depends what they do as to if its worth it or not. She loved it, there was creams and massages and some weird special exfoliater for mums dry skin etc. But going to the salon is definatly not an everyday thing and some of them are a total rip off I mean I can wax my own underarms thankyou for the price of a $12 tub of wax not $70.
If we want massages BF and I go to the night markets and get 40 min ones for $20 by the chinese therapists there... just as good and WAY cheap!

Re: The relevance of beauty salons
I have been to the salon a couple of times thanks to gift vouchers. For $100 I got.......complete body massage, aromatherapy facial, manicure, eyebrow wax. I know last time I got a leg wax it was only $25!!
