Lol Nic - then there are the Graphic Novels & apparently HBO are bringing out a movie based on the series.
AND! Its gets more raunchy as the series goes along.

BTW: I love Nathaniel & LKH's Edward character!!! So NOT sparkle boy!

My d/d (who i might add very seldom reads a book) was given the Twilight Series..... well she was absolutely enthralled and looking for further recommendations..... can anyone suggest a follow thru from this series - I am guessing the romantic side to the series appealed to her.

I've been turned to the J.R.Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood series recently, highly recommend them.

    Re: Vampire books?

I am currently on Dead as a Doornail in the Sookie Stackhouse books I am LOVING them!! I have not watched the show tho so I a not influenced in anyway

I have read maybe the first 3 of the Anita Blake series which are good.

Now they are not vampires but the BEST books I have ever read are by Katie Macllister.
    This is the order...

You Slay Me, Fire Me up, Light My Fire and Holy Smokes
then Playing with Fire, Up in Smoke and Me and my shadow
    then
Love in the Time of dragons

They are dragon books....I know it sounds lame but it is sooo good!!!! The first 4 are based on one couple then the next 3 another couple and then the latest one is another couple but they are all in all of the books. They are sexy and so so funny!!!!

She does Vampire books too but I love this series of books

I have the sookie stackhouse series of books on my Kindle but haven't started reading them yet. I have watched season 2 of True Blood all out of whack as DP was watching them. So I have just started watching it through from season 1 now and don't want to start on the books at the same time as watching the series.

Anne Rice is a wonderful Vampire writer. She also does witches and the like. Really love her work.

Whats the True Blood show like? I am a bit scared to watch it incase it takes away from my love of the series.

    Re: Vampire books?

I like it. Very graphic, very adult. Lots of blood and sex and vampires.

I know what you mean though. I hate watching movies when I have read the book, as I am always disappointed. That's why I don't really want to read the books while watching the series. Although I have no idea how they compare. I have heard that True Blood is more like a spin off of the Sookie stories? So on a different story line and maybe not comparable in that way?

Maybe someone who has watched the show and read the series can let us know.
