    Smile Shutter Island

mmmm this was an interesting movie....

very grey background as its set on an island for the crimanlly insane.
    excellent acting....
my DD was with me and i wasnt sure if she understood what the flashbacks were about and i
didnt want to start talking in the movie to ask her.....you'll see what i mean if you see it....

i think though i would only give it a 6 out of 10....

DD said what a great ending and i thought it was a bit of an odd ending.....

and we had nothing to eat during the movie.......

Where has pretty Leonardo gone was my first thought as he lifted his head from the toilet bowl.
It's dark..... but you couldn't really call it Film Noir per se.
Full of tortured souls, bodies and scenery, a tad confusing with some of the flashbacks until well into the second half of the movie when I could start to see some fitting together.
I felt like cheering at the scene in Dachau and the German guards (possibly because I had just been visiting my ex Parents in Law and I felt a laugh with the...... greeting towards the end, possibly because it was totally unexpected....oh dear, nearly gave that away.
There were scenes that made me jump (who would have thought that striking a match could be scary) but that is possibly due to the fact that I was totally absorbed.
It's not Shawshank Redemption thank heavens.....it's all about psychological horror and very well presented.
And it doesn't have a happy ending for the audience nor some of the cast.....only for the aging but still talented Leonardo's character.

If you relate to Mary Poppins, give this a miss.

I am beautiful inside and out so I should love myself unconditionally.

Weather it be or weather it not Heather complains 'cause it's far from hot
