it's one day people we do it for Christmas, Boxing Day, good friday
are people honestly saying they can't wait a day to go shopping! come on people.....
Sorry but this day is very iimportant to me.
My grandfather served in WW2 with alot of my great Uncles, also my Grandmother.
He was on the Kokoda Track i hold this day as the most important day out of any
My family fort (sorry spelling) & died for this country. 2 of my great uncles died making this country
what it is today & i;m very proud to say they are my family...............
we celebrate by holding a private ceremony at the cemetery then a picnic with the family.
My grandfather & grandmother aren't with me any more so for me this is the most important day of the year

I would go shopping if I needed something on that day, I pay my respect on that day as well.
Once whilst working in a supermarket on the 11/11/11 I stopped serving customers for that one minute I got in big trouble but said SACK me then, ( which they didnt) cos I would have went to the paper and they would have lost business.

I dont go to the shops on ANZAC day but its usually because Im at home and having a family day in our jammies or at a bbq or something.
I think what Ell was saying is why is it an up roar to have the shops open but other people still have to go to work? If the shops being closed is a respect thing then why is it ok for offices to be open for business?
I can understand emergancy service workers (police, fire, paramedics, hospital) being rostered on but I dont need to sell insurance on that day.
