It's expensive to be female
I hate how much it costs to be a female. What do men need.... soap, razors, deoderant... and maybe a nice cologne? I spent a lil over $100 the other day on a couple of new bras and some make-up I had been running low on, and I buy the cheapest brands of everything because I don't have a lot of money coming in.
It really made me think about all the things I spend money on, and most of it isn't cheap. Here's the list I came up with...
Wax
Hair dye
Hair toners and conditioners
Hairspray
Moisturisers
Exfoliation products
Foundation
Concealer
Bronzer
Blush
Eyeliner
Mascara
Make-up remover and facial toners
Perfume
Bras
Pads/tampons
Razors
Nail files
Not to mention the tools we needn't replace...
Eyelash curler
Tweezers
Hair dryer
Hair straightener
Curling wands
It's all so expensive. Any thoughts??

Re: It's expensive to be female
Yip..... PRICEY TO BE BEAUTIFUL Lollen... wait till you get to my age..... amongst other things.... spend a bally fortune on facial creams, not that I see much improvement
Anyways, I look at it this way, if you can afford to, makes you happy, what the heck. I like to reward myself in the pampering department particularly now that the kiddies are all grown up, no longer my responsibility. You will be surprised what the men spend these days - here in S.A. they are big in the pamper dept - no more just the basics!!!!!, but I guess not as much as we do -
ja, perhaps you could cut done in one or two areas hey if its like hurting your pocket....

Re: It's expensive to be female
Then theirs the facial hair waxing, the sight tests, the glasses, the vitamin pills, hormonal treatment, the list is endless as you get older Lollen. The only thing I've stopped buying is tampons. lol
It's a bit late for me but maybe you could cut down on some things, maybe go one or two days a week without make up. I'm sure at least one of our ladies will have ideas of how you could use household basics for a cheaper beauty regime

Re: It's expensive to be female
Have a look at some beauty sites....especially the Australian ones. Quite often you will be able to compare products, discover which has been tested to be cheaper and just as effective as well as cheaper natural substitutes.
I think that to add GST onto Tampons and pads, nappies etc is discrimatory....they are essential items to a woman and mother.I am beautiful inside and out so I should love myself unconditionally.

Re: It's expensive to be female
I'm a sahm and fairly low maintenance in general so there's things on that list I don't or wouldn't buy. I think if I take into account work suits and shirts etc in our house, my husband is on par or even ahead of me wrt that kind of spending. I do need some new bras though and I prefer better quality ones because they fit more comfortably, but the cost is a bit gag inducing.

Re: It's expensive to be female
I should have added that we females are well worth the expense.....and it's obvious that Cosmetic companies and clothing manufacturers realise this.

Re: It's expensive to be female
Yes, although my DS can be pretty bad. Gel/ fudge for the hair, and he uses our hairspray as well. Lynx/ or some other over powering expensive deodorant, and now he is having a breakout on the face, so I am waiting with abated breath for the 'mum, can you get me something for my pimples'
