    'family'

Indulging in my secret guilty pleasure of watching Discovery Home and Health ... some show about multiple births as usual, and the "Mom" said that once the babies were born they were a family.

Do you think a couple isn't a family unless they have kids?

No not at all...gees i know some couples who are everything a "family" should be....or would like to be...

and it irks me that people might say to them when you have a family, they are a family already.

and isnt it wonderful in families to have aunts and uncles who dont have children they just embrace you like you were their own children.....so your their family and their yours....

Not necessarily depends on the people involved I love kids but even if I never had any of my own I have nieces and nephews and would consider my other half family with or without kids.
TO KNOW SOMEONE HERE OR THERE WITH WHOM YOU FEEL THERE IS AN UNDERSTANDING IN SPITE OF DISTANCES OR THOUGHTS UNEXPRESSED----THAT CAN MAKE OF THIS EARTH A GARDEN.

No i honestly don't think you have to have kids to be a family, & when you marry you get extra family anyway lol

    Re: 'family'

Even though my DP and I were together for about 6-7 years before DD was born, I didn't really acknowledge us as a family until DD was born.. however, I did feel apart of his family and he a part of mine... maybe because we aren't married, I'm not sure.. It just wasn't something I put much thought into..

My version is when you have children, you are creating your own family..up until then you are a part of your own family or your DH's family. Without children you are classed as a couple.

Be kind, be thoughtful, and do things that make you feel proud of who you are.

    My thoughts exactly.
I am beautiful inside and out so I should love myself unconditionally.

Reckon that's how I feel too.

Isn't it funny how we don't really think too much about something like this until asked the question......and then somebody ie. Cherie says something and you immediately know that's what you think too!!!

This "convo" did remind me of our first Christmas as a "family". I was very pregnant and signed the gift cards......"Grubby, Tubby & Bubby".
