My Sister

Went to the specialist today to see if they will give her knee replacements & the Surgeon said she is the worst arthretic mess she has seen. she told my sister to go home & have a long think about what she wants to do because if she replaces her knees she will be in Rehab for at least 2 weeks before they can think of letting her go home because her feet are actual balls (toes have grown under & met with her heels to make balls) she will not be able to use walking sticks or frame. i would hate to be making that decision & she lives alone so only she can make up her own mind, we all know the excruciating pain she is in & yet she never ever complains . Her elbows are 8 times the normal size as well but the Dr just shook her head when she saw them

I really feel for your Sister Di....so sad ....arthritis is sooo bloody cruel....see it in clients all the time....does your Sis have any idea what she will do?

That's a hard decision Does she get any home help through any of the agencies? Did the Dr say if they could do anything for her feet and elbows at all?

No Sandy, i think she would have felt a bit down after going today because of when the Dr said rehab for a few weeks because she wouldnt be able to use a walking aid, i think she has been in such a bad way for so long that she forgets just how bad she is.

Naomi, we have told her to get home help but she won't, she honestly struggles a lot especially with getting her meals etc but she is a real trooper & she has 2 lovely GFs that help her a lot but she is a very proud person & just won't ask for help, she has said over the years that she doesn't want to ask because she knows one day that she won't be able to do anything & then she will have no choice but to ask.
The Dr just shook her head when she saw her elbows but i think mostly because the knees are her biggest problem as in not being able to walk because they keep on locking up now & as for her feet, I have no idea what they could do because apart from new feet i don't think there would be anything left to do they are both balls.
My other sister is very good to her, she does all her shopping & things like that & drives her anywhere she has to go for Dr appointments, but whenever she rings to let me know how our sister is going she spends a lot of the time getting upset, she said it is so hard to watch the way she is struggling

That would be heartbreaking to see your Sister or loved one go through that sure hope they can do something to help your Sis

Oh MOC that is so so sad....... I am sure her doctor will do what she can to ease her pain though it may bring other challenges it seems your sister knows what is right for her body..... one amazing lady there....

So sorry about your sister MOC - must be very sad and difficult for you knowing that there is very little you can do... great that she has a wonderful family as in yourself and other sister who do their best to take care of her.

A lady I used to work with had that too Di and the poor thing limped around work in total agony most days and she didn't have any elbow or knee trouble to make things worse like your poor sister I hope things all work out the best for her and she is pain free soon.
