My husband had a hernia maybe 3 years ago. From what I understand of a hernia, there is a tear in the abdominal lining? and the muscle pokes through. Just needs to be pushed back through and the tear stitched up. It can be done via keyhole surgery but if it's really big you may need a bigger operation. Apparently my husband's was one of the largest the specialist had seen for a while but managed to do it via keyhole so no external stitching. If your having an ultrasound, that will confirm the diagnosis but I think it's fairly apparent what it is (from a doctors view because I asked similar questions of both the GP and the specialist). Hubby had a large lump in his groin, I was scared it was something more serious and made him see the GP! Even though there was something wrong he still was cranky with me because "the doctor grabbed my balls"
You'll need a few weeks recovery and 6-8 weeks later it will be as strong as it will ever get (specialists words) Try not to panic. If it is a hernia it does need to be repaired tho

I've never had this before nor heard from my friends and family who had hernia. Does it hurt? But goodluck hope everything's gonna be ok after.
