Has anyone been in this position
I have been receiving letters that look suspiciously like overdue accounts, traffic infringements, unpaid tolls and the like since I exchanged contracts on this house in June last year......I was forwarding same to their new address up until this year when I started to return them "Not at this address", after all I was not their private post office.
I had a phone call from the police late last year, gave the Constable full details but as he did not ask whether I knew their address, I did not volunteer the information.
Honestly, I am starting to worry that I have done something wrong by not continuing to forward the mail and by not being entirely honest with the Police.I am beautiful inside and out so I should love myself unconditionally.

Re: Has anyone been in this position
I think you've done what you can by forwarding their mail on for several months. If the police wanted any extra information, they can ask. I honestly don't think it's your responsibility anymore. Also, with tolls and traffic infringements, the RTA will catch up with them eventually for sure.
(We are still receiving mail ... mostly ads and circulars ... for the previous owners here and it's been three years. If it's just advertising, I chuck it. If it's something more official looking I RTS).

Re: Has anyone been in this position
Not quite the same situation as yours H, but we still get mail for the lady who lived here before us - and she has been dead since before we moved in 10 years ago. I used to mark it "return to sender" , even wrote on the envelopes a few times a note to say that she had died. Still it keeps coming in - but now I just throw it away.
I think you have done the right thing. As you say - you are not their personal post office.July.

Heather I agree with Naomi you have done all you can, its their responibility to make sure they have their correct details changed for mailing etc purposes. I would continue to just RTS not at this address.
Just a thoughtie maybe ring Au Post on Monday & tell them you only want mail in your or BM's name to be delivered I know I can do that with our PO box not sure about street delivery though

Re: Has anyone been in this position
The Constable left his card at my front door and of course I phoned him.
Just makes me angry that I paid $60 odd to have my mail redirected and they are too cheap to do the same.....will ask at the post office Tina.....but I would imagine that it is a simple matter with post box addresses.I am beautiful inside and out so I should love myself unconditionally.

You're no one's secretary H. Don't worry about it! (I read my x's mail...doesn't come often....but I read it and chuck it out.) I also throw out mail for previous occupants and also from a boarder I had 15 yrs ago.

I always thought that it was illegal to tamper with the mail....especially that not addressed to you?
