Im still hanging in but I so understand why some dont.
Just got a phone call from a Uni friend she has dropped out as well, that takes it to 33 I know of so far, No wonder thou it is a huge work load ( study) and as I have been at the hospital the past few days, have spoken to a lot of en and RN.s and they are like don't blame them the things we have to learn NOW will not have any effect on our nursing once we are qualified, No wonder there is a shortage of Nurses.

33 My God!
It's true though a lot of the stuff you do won't have anything to do with the actual job. My mum has a training position at the hospital. Once the new nurses and Doctors starts she does all their on the job training in the emergency dept. which includes lectures and stuff they have their degrees, then they go to the hospital to learn how it really works.

That seems to be a high number for so early in the course. Don't let it discourage you Mes .

Re: Im still hanging in but I so understand why some dont.
You will notice it a lot more in the lead up to the HECS census date on 26 March....up until then, if they drop out all they are losing is application fees and textbook costs. After that and they will pay for the course regardless of whether they pass, fail or drop out. It's a lot of money to pay for non completion, that's why there is an early drop out rate most times.

But this is something you know you want to do, so just knuckle down and do the work and you will be fine. Easter isn't too far away so you'll be able to catch up on some of the course work then when you don't have to attend classes during the week as well.

There was always a huge drop out rate in chemistry too that my DH did....most are studying to avoid work
