Re: Nazi Germany/World War 2
I did a major essay in 3 unit History about Hitler - can't say I have read many books for fun though - it is a pretty harrowing topic.
You can get the boy book on e-bay only cost me $12 instead of the usual $20.
Life is Beautiful is also another movie - not sure if it is based on a book or is just a screen play - have you watched that?
Schindlers Ark (List is the movie title) by Australian Thomas Keneally (have you seen this movie - also very harrowing)"Assumptions are the tools of fools and the bedfellows of dreamers. If you want to know something just ask..."

Re: Nazi Germany/World War 2
There was a programme on TV years ago called "Holocaust" It told the story of two Geman families, one jewish,,one non jewish, from 1931/3 through to 1945. you might be able to download it?
AND THE VIOLINS STOPPED PLAYING, is a book about Gypsies who try to escape the Nazi's, The author is Polish,I think?
Reach for the sky, is about Douglas Bader,an air force pilot, who was captured and sent to a prison of war camp, not so much about Nazi's as Germans and his struggle, Dont want to say too much in case you get the film or the book and I spoil it for you! It is a great film though, based on a true story.
I will try to think of some more,oh yes, THE WINDS OF WAR and WAR AND RREMEMBERENCE by Herman Wok, This is about Nazi's,A mericans,English and Jewish families and spans the world as the war escalates.Books and Film.IF I AM NOT ON HERE, IT IS BECAUSE I AM DOING HOUSEWORK BECAUSE MY COMPUTOR HAS BROKEN!

Re: Nazi Germany/World War 2
Sophie's Choice ... I think it's more Poland than Germany, and it's post-war rather than war (but with lots of flash-backs). It's actually a pretty brutal book in some aspects and hard to read (emotionally, not narrative). Fiction.

I've read that book Naomi and yes it is hard. Meryl Streep stars in the film but I couldn't get into it.
