i read the books twice and i haven't seen eclipse yet, but i can't wait to go! i'm waiting for it to calm down a bit in the theater, because there's no way i want to sit in a theater with pre-teens screaming over edward cullen!

nicole-i kind of can't remember, but in true blood when one of the vampires dies, he turned into stone and then poof, it was like dust, as if he was exploded? it was godrick that died like that, not sure if you remember, so i don't know.

I have a question for the people who have read the book and saw the movie.. when the vampires got killed, it was like they were made of ice, all that shattering. Does it have anything about this in the book?? or is it something the movie makers decided to add in? I really thought reading the book that the movie was going to be gory in some parts but it took that element out of it, I don't think we saw any blood.

I've not yet seen the movie, but IIRC in the books the deaths of the vamps were bloody and, in the case of Riley, prolonged since SMeyer doesn't go for the Buffy style 'stake through the chest, vampire explodes into dust' executions. I would imagine that the filmmakers added it in firstly to show off their nifty CG effects and secondly in order to keep a PG rating so their main audience (teens and pre-teens) would be able to see the film, in droves, as they are...
