What are you reading now #4/read a good book lately?

The past few weeks I've read a few books.

The Millenium trilogy - LOVED the first one, Girl with a Dragon Tattoo. Enjoyed the other two but felt it was stretching the credibility a bit at times.

I read Jonathan Livingston Seagull for a bookclub I'm in. Was not impressed at all. At least it was short. I think it has a history/reputation for being a "life changing book" but I just didn't get that out of it at all.

I finally read Kite Runner and I'm half way through A Thousand Splendid Suns. I don't know, a bit too depressing for me. Very readable bit without the happy ending I prefer in my escapism.

I've heard a great deal about the Millenium trilogy, although I haven't read it myself yet. I've recently gotten into the Charlaine Harris books - the basis for the TV series 'True Blood'. I'm up to Dead as a Doornail and going strong, think they're great.

I've just finished 'Corduroy Mansions' by Alexander McCall-Smith for my bookclub and am about to embark on 'The Secret Life of Bees'. Corduroy Mansions was nice, light and funny and populated with those eccentric characters you find in McCall-Smith's books.

I also bought the new Janet Evanovich 'Sizzling Sixteen' and devoured it in about a day... I read a lot so I'm always on the lookout for something new to keep my brain busy...

Oh that reminds me, I also read the latest Sookie Stackhouse book, Dead in the Family on the weekend. Good read, as always.

I'm working my way up to that one, I read the blurb on the back and went (spoiler)Hurrah, hurrah, she's finally with Eric, because he's my favorite character.

I have to do things in order though, I can't just skip to the end. It's a curse.

OMG I read the Celestine Vision years ago and really enjoyed it, bit bizarre in parts though.
Last night I finished THE PASSAGE by Justin Cronin and it was FANTASTIC. It's a whopping 765 pages long but is set in managable sub books so you can finish one section and put it away for awhile and not concern yourself to much, but seriously I was enjoying it so much that I couldn't put it down. It was only $19.95 at Kmart and it was well worth every penny. Highly recommend it.

Deb, are you thinking of the Celestine Prophesy? I read that years ago. I haven't found any bizarre bits in this one yet.

Having exhausted my bookshelves long ago and now MIL's and Mums are done as well I'm re-reading Harry Potter and the goblet of Fire again.

I need to sign up to a library but I never have time to get to one in the first place let alone return books.
