Looking for a new home...
So it seems the owner of my cosy little flat is up and selling the place and soon the Master of Disaster and I will be homeless!

Well not until September, but they want to spend the second half of August taking pictures of the place and parading people through to have a squizz and I'm worried they'll nick the expensive grog or publish piccies of my undies hanging off the lampshade on the Internets so I think we're going to depart before that...
I started looking today for a new flat for MoD and me (he has the most stringent requirements so he gets final choice) I've got 8 viewings lined up for Saturday, one of them has to be better than the place I saw today... they wanted $320 a week for it and the bathroom ceiling has gone bubbly - also there was a bucket full of water and old shoes in the bath for some reason - I was puzzled at first, but obviously it was performance art... a witty and wry commentary on the nuances of society as seen from an outsiders perspective...
It did claim to have a 'walk in wardrobe' which you could probably walk into... if you squished yourself flat with an ironing press and didn't actually out any clothes in there, but the only way it's ever going to be useful is if it contains a secret door to Narnia.
At any rate it wasn't as bad as the apartment belonging to the chain smoking cellist (previous house hunt, don't ask), but MoD and I certainly cannot live in a place where the couch faces a window that looks directly out on a wall... terrible fung shui, the pixies would definitely eat your shoes.
I took an application though, it made a lovely paper aeroplane as I left.
Tomorrow, three more houses - would have been four but I ruled out the one with the electric blue kitchen out of respect for my retinas.
Pray for me that none of them have 'boy-smell'

Re: Looking for a new home...
I could, but it's a huge invasion of my privacy, they're probably going to want to repaint the house and re-polish the floorboards before sale and they're already pressuring me to let them take photos, it's just a lot of people in and out, no privacy, having people all through your personal stuff.
If I don't find a place I like before the auction, and it does happen to sell to an investor I'll think about staying, but it's a pain in the butt and in the end it might sell to an owner occupier and then I've gone through all that aggravation for nothing.'There's a pink suede elephant in the middle of the room and no-one's allowed to talk about it!' - Miranda Hobbs

Good luck Jade & it makes sense to move as quick as possible if they are going to be dragging people through & you like your privacy

Wishing you both nothing but good luck finding an eminently suitable place....what is the rental situation like anyway?
