Daisy's Vet Appointment Today
Last week I mentioned Daisy had something wrong with her eye.
Had it looked at and it turns out to be some kind of disgusting looking wart.
Anyway I had been treating her with an antiseptic cream for her eyes. It happens there is a problem with both eyes. She has an ulcer on both eyes. The vet said she had SCCEDS..which is Spontanious Chronic Corneal Epithelial Defects..Great!!She basically has a defect in the outer layers of her cornea's.
I had to get a referal to a dog eye surgeon, and was *lucky* to see him almost straight away. He had to do something they call *burring* to the eye to help recify the problem... I have to put a drop of cream in her eyes now 4 times a day to keep them lubricated. Oh Lucky me got the cream for nothing..
So here's hoping her eyes can be healed/ saved without it costing me a small fortune.
Costs for today..A public holiday up here:
Examination by Vet:... $98.00
Cons. by Specialist:....$150.00
Tablets:...................$30.00
Burring:....................$80.00
----------------------------
Total costs:..............$358.00..

Re: Daisy's Vet Appointment Today
Vets are so expensive, aren't they!!
I remember our dog needing an operation years ago, and it was going to cost around $1000, and I was umming and arghing, and the vet got mad, and said to me, well, unfortunately we don't have medicare for dogs
Made me feel really guilty, but we didn't have a lot of money at the time.
I hope the drops help Daisy, and she doesn't need anything elseLove the life you live. Live the life you love!! Bob Marley

I hope so too Lucy. He asked me to come back on the Thurs before I go away, all I could think of was his fee again, plus whatever else.
This little baby is part of my family and just like one of us, except that she is spoilt rotten and never does as she is told.
He did say there is a very good chance of it healing..I bloomy hope so.
I was a bit embarrassed too as she was grubby from being outside on the weekend.

Re: Daisy's Vet Appointment Today
to Daisy & one to you as well Cherie
I would love to know exactly how much it costs to provide one course of treatment
I know they say they need the money for research but still...
