2 Public Holidays for the price of 1
So I'm checking out the proposed public holidays for 2011 here - http://www.justice.qld.gov.au/fair-a...-for-2008-2013 (dunno how to pretty links up) and it looks like Easter will either be a TOTAL rip off, or a MEGA 5 day weekend bonus!!! I'm looking at this from a Qld point of view however with both holidays being National, it will affect all of us one way or another.
Let me explain. Easter 2011 begins with Good Friday on April 22 and ends with Easter Monday on April 25. As you know, April 25 is Anzac Day.. so, what to do? Apparently the Qld Government is still deciding whether to basically cancel either Easter Monday or Anzac Day or give us an extra day to celebrate.
Honestly though, neither of these days can be 'moved'. Easter Monday is a religious day celebrated all over the world, and Anzac Day is ... well... Anzac Day! You can't stuff around with either really.
So, what to do? What do you think they should do? Tell me, I'd love your opinions on this.

Re: 2 Public Holidays for the price of 1
I seem to remember year before last, there was no Anzac Day Public Holiday although I think that was because it fell on a Saturday (from memory anyway).

Bit of a pickle isn't it? I can't see them cancelling either one....more likely that they will shift the Anzac Day holiday to the Tuesday similar to what they do when it falls on a weekend. But I'm not sure how that will affect the dawn service.

my feelings, anzac day and australia day should be celebrated on the day and no extra holiday given.

It's Anzac Day and Easter Monday dizzy... bit weird to celebrate both on the same day...
Does anyone know why Easter keeps bloody moving from one date to another? I think there's a religious reason but bloody hell, it sure does jump around a lot!

Easter moves around due to the moon.

Really? I wonder who decides for the whole world which particular weekend will be Easter. I should Google these things but I really can't be bothered

Just did... so apparently Easter Sunday is the first Sunday following the first full moon after 21st March.

Yeah, NSW is the same, they're giving a public holiday on the Tuesday to compensate.
