Wow well since I wrote this we're now onto number 3 in the books plus we've now seen all the movies too.
Vegetarian, nature loving, instinctive parenting working mother. It works for my family

My 7 year old keeps asking to see the movies but I'm still saying no. I figured once he has read the book himself, he can see the corresponding movie. At his age (and for his personality) I wouldn't let him read/see more than the first one anyway because he doesn't react well at all to 'scary' and he had nightmares after watching the animated version of the Clone Wars. I think when he's older and able to balance "real vs pretend" better, the books will really appeal to him but at the moment his emotional maturity isn't quite up to it.
