around 15 years ago my sister had warts removed by her GP on her vulva this led to further troubles for her, she was diagnosed with nonmelanomic vulva cancer a section of her vulva was removed but unfortunately it had spread and she then had to have a full vulvalectomy, not only was this embarrassing for her but the same effect as a mastectomy she felt unfeminine having such personal space invaded. She has since recovered fully and leads a normal life. I have checked myself weekly since this happened and last week noticed a lump i waited a few days no change so i went to the doctor to see to it, i had a biopsy and was told it was a basal carcinoma[ nonmelanomic] it will have to be removed in a minor operation, this is not hereditry i was told just unlucky for 2 sisters to have the same thing, my point ladies is i have saved myself major surgery by being vigilant with my checks, it can happen to any one, the hardest part of the checks is getting back up off the floor, so if you are unsure how to do these checks Womens health clinics can show you how to and what to look for, for the sake of 5 minutes please ladies do these checks.

I do a rough check but have to say, not as vigilant a one,or as frequent as I maybe should.

I have had to have this operation three times.... But thankfully have been all clear for 7 yrs now and have a yearly Colposcopy with my Gyno. This was the red flag to me to give up smoking.....

Frannie how horrible that must be, gee i hope mine is a one only just knowing some thing is there freaks me out and it is the worst place ever to try to heal.

I have a pink peg in my clothes pegs, just the one. and it reminds me to check. It's not real often I come across it in amongst the pegs but it gives me that little reminder
