    book review.

    servo:
A coffee table book, not to be thrust into a dark bookcase, for everyone a good look at the past, well set out state by state, excellent.
    diagnosis male:
a light read with few pages which is good because very hard to put down, a need to keep reading to see what he thinks he has next. hilarious, well written and i can see a lot of women nodding in agreement when reading this book.

Servo....before this book began it's life as a Reminisce tool in an Aged Care facility, it was avidly thumbed through by quite a few staff who all had memories of several of the Service Stations depicted therein. So it came as no surprise that the actual activity for the gentlemen residents was a great success. A great memento of the days when there was truly driveway service.

    Servo
I enjoyed it as I am interested in Australia History and I love the pictures of old service stations.
I can even remember going to some of them
A lot more character and individuality in the older service stations.
A great Fathers Day presents I think more for the older Dads

Servo - some interesting information in this book about the history of petrol and service stations in Australia. The signage and petrol prices of days gone by were definitely a talking point. The book cover looked fantastic, however, I was a little disappointed in the quality of the book itself. I would have loved to see glossy pages instead of the paper back style pages, I think after being thumbed a few times it would look a little ratty. The print quality of the photos reminded me of my self printed high school publications and not a those of a professionally published book. Some may feel this adds charm to the book, or gears it towards the rough Aussie bloke...I am not convinced and not really sure why it was published this way... Overall though, I think this is a great gift for Dad's that have an interest in anything Auto.

Male Diagnosis: This book was so funny, I really enjoyed it. Not to be read in public as you will suffer from uncontrollable fits of laughter at this man's stupidity. His writing style is easy to read and very descriptive, I learned approximately 20 new terms to decribe the male appendages while reading this book! His honesty is refreshing, and while I am left feeling I know him a little too intimately, I would definitely recommend this book for some light reading. Not sure I would gift it to a man, not my Dad or Partner anyway. More of a book for women to enjoy as it does make fun of men in a laugh at them and not with them sort of way!

    Diagnosis Male
A good light hearted easy read. The sort of book to read on that plane trip to make time go quicker. Not sure if many men would read it

The Casuals: I'm a bit 50/50 about this one didn't like how it was all in the third person got on my nerves a bit after a while interesting looking at life in Q'ld from the era's depicted some may like it not my usual genre'.

The Casuals - I am not really sure how to review this book, as I don't like giving bad reviews. It was so hard to get through and I am afraid to say I skimmed over much of it. Written in the first person, I felt like I was on the other side of a very long winded coversation, with the author of this book telling me all the boring parts of her life. I kept waiting for something of great importance to happen, for anything to happen really, but nothing did. I feel a bit mean saying that, as I am sure her life wasn't really boring and that it had great meaning to her and her loved ones. But to an outsider, and one that did grow up in the same era, what she had to say was nothing out of the ordinary and could have been told by nearly all of us if we felt so inclined to write about it. I don't normally read memoirs from people with ordinary lives, and I feel this style of writing should be left for those with something exceptional to say.

gosh, that sounds really mean...I am in a bad mood so maybe my review was a bit harsher than I would normally write. Sorry
