    "Red carpet" is just a figure of speech isnt it - the actual carpet the event is held on doesnt have to be red.

    I take it to just mean any occasion when formal gowns are on show - say the Brownlow medal or Nobel Prize Awards.

    Yeah i thnk red carpet is just about the glamorous look more than it is about actually walking on the red carpet! I do like the green emerald colour of the dress you shared!
