Politics and unions and management aside at the end of the day there are going to be a LOT of families and businesses affected by this

Oh, Ok, Heather - yes, I agree with you - I thought you meant you personally felt arrogant and irresponsible and couldnt figure out why when obviously decision was not made by you.

An airline cannot function properly if half its operational staff periodically decide that they aren't going to do the work. What is worse? Knowing that your flight definitely isn't going anywhere or uncertain about whether it will depart on time or even a few minutes late? I'd rather it get cancelled altogether and be able to rebook with another airline and claim the loss on my travel insurance. I know there will be people who complain that they haven't got any travel insurance to fall back on but in all honesty, if you can't afford that, you cannot afford to travel, particularly overseas.
