I think because the other baby had a better chance if one was terminated. Also if the baby was born he would be put through surgeries and be put in a crib away from anyone.

But after terminating the ill baby it would have had to be birthed anyway, they couldn't leave it in there for another 6 or 7 weeks until full term so both had to be taken out anyway. So the healthy baby had just a good as chance as being birthed healthy regardless of if the other was terminated. my baby was taken away at 33 weeks and went through many surgeries and was in a crib in NICU for 6 weeks. I look at her and find it hard not to see a termination so late even because of defects as essentially wrong. Still way more to this story if you ask me, so much we don't know.

It was about the placenta but I can't really remember it all. Not sure I'm comfortable with their choice but I sort of makes a bit of sense but still not a choice I'm comfortable with if it were me.

I would want heads to roll if it were me. The ultrasound tech did the termination. No excuse would be suitable.

I agree the hospital needs to be accountable.....The hospital needs to be held acccountable I think, not that suing will bring the baby back. Just tragic for those parents. Personally I think it was murder in a way..or at least manslaughter?
But if it was murder or manslaughter then it would of been murder or manslughter of the intended baby anyway - cant see how that changes because the wrong baby was terminated.
I have heard of selective termination of multiple prenancies when there are quadruplets or something - but is done very early - and the realistic alternative is for the pregnacy not to go full term and possibly none of the babies survive.
Would hate to be in that situation, such a hard dilemma.....
