    Re: Online shopping the reason

But if you shop online in Australia (i.e. the company is based in Australia), you pay GST anyway. They can't regulate overseas economy so if they put an additional tax on items bought online in Australia, don't they see that this will just hurt the very same Australian retailers? Because it's a sure bet that while the Aussie dollar is strong against US and there are reasonable shipping costs (or mail redirection opportunities), that's where the majority of online purchasing will shift.

So they really need to make up their mind whether they are happy for consumers to buy online within Australia or whether they want that money going overseas. I already buy a fair bit of stuff overseas but only because it is not sold in Australia. If they sold it here at all, I would buy within Australia (in person or online), simple as that.

I love online shopping too! I like comparing prices, targeting for free delivery, avoiding crowds/trolleys/crying babies. But there are some things that I will not buy online, like shoes!

    Re: Online shopping the reason

I wanted to buy all our cyclone stuff online to avoid having to do it in shifts since it would take 2 trolleys, but cat food was an extra $1 for a box of sachets, and UHT milk was $1.18/L online or $1.08/L instore, and other things were significantly more online too, so I did it over a couple of nights on my way home from work. Delivery was $13 too.

Where we live, we have been flooded into our street for up to 3 weeks at a time, and have been without power after a cyclone for a few days. But any we don't use is donated by easter, still well within dates.

Also just to add, I still had regular shopping on top of it.
