If you are/were a teacher ...
How do/would you feel about getting a picture painted by your student as an end of year present? Hugo absolutely adores his teacher, so much so that when I told him this is the last week of school he was really upset because he's going to miss her. We contributed towards the combined class present (which will be a gift card of some kind) but he was really keen to make something for her so I bought a canvas board and he did a painting. I know she will be really nice to him when she opens it, and would never make him feel like he shouldn't have bothered, but is she just going to think "ugh, not another one!"?

I would be delighted! I think teachers (most of them) become teachers because they love teaching and love kids. They enjoy helping them learn and watching their growth and development is rewarding to them. to get a special gift from a child himself as a thanks would be like getting a special award!! I know a few teachers and they all tell me how much they love it when "their" kids do something special for them.

I think she would feel the same as you would if one of your friends children made you a gift himself
She will appreciate the time, effort & love that Hugo put into it & I'm sure she will treasure it.
to Hugo for wanting to do something like that instead of just being content to hand money over

Re: If you are/were a teacher ...
Hard to say what teachers think or do with all the pressies they get from the kids but the main thing is that Hugo is going to love giving her his special gift & she will be thrilled when he gives it to her, don't think beyond that Naomi Hugo will never know whether she hangs his painting or puts it in a cupboard, personally I think she will love it because she knows he adores her.
Joshy was about 7 & asked me if it was okay to love his teacher the same way he loved me & his mum, he really did love that lady & he picked her a little gift at the shop & was thrilled to give it to her she made a small fuss when she opened it, I think she had a soft spot for him

I feel the same way Di, his teacher (no matter the issues I have with her) is just so caring and lovely towards Hugo, and I am glad that he formed an attachment to her this year. He loves going to school. I kind of wish i'd taken a photo of his picture before he took it, it was very unusual for him. He usually draws complicated robot/machine/city scape types of pictures but this was a picture of him and his teacher standing under a rainbow. It was really sweet

I have never seen any teacher receive such a lovely gift.
When I was a TAS, the year 1 class had a lesson on who they trusted and who they would turn to if they were scared.....one delight draw a picture of herself and me. I still have it, stored along with my ultimate treasures.I am beautiful inside and out so I should love myself unconditionally.

Re: If you are/were a teacher ...
I am sure she will be thrilled Naomi.
Kyanne had one teacher three different years during her time in State school..She gave her lovely gifts and I know she treasures them as she has said so, plus she told me where she had it kept at home. When Kye left school this teacher gave us her email address so Kye could keep in touch with her in the future. She has left our area now, but I see her sometimes. So the answer to your question is if she is a dedicated teacher then yes she will love it.
