Licking
I have an issue at the moment where Bella wont stop licking herself, she really gets into it and uses her teeth aswell. She made her paw bleed yesterday because she was at it for so long.
It all started a couple of weeks ago when I took her for a walk and she got those little sticky, buzzy plant things stuck all through her fur. It took me a while to cut them all out and in the mean time she was really going for it..trying to get them out herself.
I have checked her skin and it looks fine, It doesnt seem like it's irritated or anything.

Re: Licking
Try painting the area (tho' perhaps not any raw parts due to the alcohol content) with some Angostura Bitters....worked a treat when trying to stop my Furbies from worrying at any bandages.
I am beautiful inside and out so I should love myself unconditionally.
Weather it be or weather it not Heather complains 'cause it's far from hot
Her disdain for the rain is catching on quickly To Mad Old Cow she can be quite prickly
Grab jumper, a scarf or even a dog.
That'll warm you up, you jolly great snob!!

Re: Licking
Do you have any 'Wanering Jew' in the yard or where they walk ? Dogs are very allergic to that dreadful weed I am like a crazy woman if I see it anywhere I am onto it straight away Or there may be a tiny bit of prickle that you cannot see

Re: Licking
It could be a habit that she's formed as well, Bella is the poodle yeah?
Look for the Wandering Jew, try the agnostura, and if they don't work try to treat it like separation anxiety & train her to stop licking?

Re: Licking
Yes Just remembered a GF of mine has a little dog that chews his feet everytime she leaves him at home alone because of separation anxiety

Re: Licking
I dont know what that weed is, but I will do a bit of research.
I am leaning towards it being a habit...because I catch her doing it all the time, even when we are all at home.
She's a funny little girl.
Binx, she is the poodle, a little Shnoodle.“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”

Re: Licking
That can be a sign of an allergy. I knew someone with a silky terrier who constantly licked and I wish I could remember what the allergy actually was. Anyway the dog is on regular medication for it. Maybe phone the vet and ask if a quick look over will find what is wrong.

Re: Licking
Just noticed our adopted Poodle licking chewing her feet & have noticed over the last few weeks that she ONLY does it when she is on carpet & inher own bed of a night, she never seems to do it on the tiles

Re: Licking
Molly licks her feet, a lot. I've tried so many things to try to get her to stop but I think it's a habit. I'm more inclined to think your pooch might have something still in her foot if she's not been doing it before.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only option left.
