    gift vouchers to thrift shops

Saw ad in our thrift shop window yesterday - saying Gift Vouchers available.

Nevr seen that before - seemed a strange place to get a gift voucher for.
Nothing against buying from second hand shops and the shop does also do a book exchange thing so good for prolific readers and I know someone struggling financially would get more bang for their buck at a second hand place than, say, Target - but would feel uncomfortable about giveing a voucher to there, not sure why.

    WDYT?

Yes I would feel a bit weird giving a voucher to a second hand shop?

I look in second hand shops but don't think I'd like a gift card for one and I don't think I'd buy one for anyone either..I buy a lot of my books from op shops..funny thing to do don't have it in Victoria that I know of.

Get a Coles voucher instead. Petrol card vouchers go down well even if not a very exciting gift.

It's because, you might get something from a thrust store for someone but probably not as a gift, so to give them a gift voucher in lieu of a present is a bit unusual. Unless, I suppose, you know that they'd shop there regularly?

I agree with Coles voucher - everyone needs groceries. Or you can get Visa gift cards that work just like a normal Visa card.

    thrust store - hmmmm

I guess someone could buy a gift voucher not neccesarily as a birthday gift type thing but just as a 'just because' gift to someone struggling to help get them on their feet - or to someone struggling but you know they would spend cash on the wrong things, like an alcoholic or on the pokies.

Im not actually thinking of getting any one any sort of gift voucher atm, was just a WDYT after I happened across the ad in their shop window.

I still think a Coles voucher would be helpful in a "helping you get back on your feet" kind of way. The thing with theft ... oh for goodness sake autocorrect! WHat's wrong with my typing?! THRIFT stores is that it's generally pretty hit-and-miss in terms of merchandise. You might need to wait ages before they get something in that you want to buy.

But yeah, if I saw a 'Gift Voucher' sign at our local thrift store, I'd probably have a bit of a moment.
