Re: Womens Weekly - nude cover.
I didn't know who she was, and I never buy WW anyway. Is this the first nude cover they've done? And is it ok if it's for a women's magazine than for the salacious enjoyment of men?

I never buy it either - but I did read that the photo was lead in to an article about body image - so seems hypocritical to use a person who is an ex model, not typical of women her age - and then to airbrush it anyway - hardly role modelling accept yourself as you are, is it?
That was my point really.

Oh I do agree. I mean, to an extent we can't exclude 'perfect' bodies from body image articles because it would be just as offensive to thin, toned women to say "we're only talking about wrinkled/pudgy/saggy/celulitey women" but if the picture is airbrushed (and I haven't seen it or even read anything about it other than this thread) then yes, that is a great big bucket of hypocrisy.

This Deb at the beach in Sydney, taken without her knowledge, clearly she is still stunning without airbrushing.
Also I have read The Women's Weekly this month, I really don’t get the big deal with this whole story. To me, photoshopping is another ‘tool’, on a par with professional hair and makeup, supportive/suck me in underwear, studio lighting, good use of camera angle and body positioning. All of these things can and should be used to create a great image.
Even a Big Mac gets styled and photoshopped for a Maccas print ad or billboard. The burger in the picture never looks like the one you unwrap in the restaurant. But I don’t think it really matters.
Advertising is just that – it’s making things look as good as possible to sell something. Does it always reflect real life, nope. I’m smart enough and comfortable with myself to know the difference.
And the amount of skin DH shows on the cover is akin to wearing a swimsuit. No offensive bits on show at all.Last edited by Alexa; 06-01-2012 at 08:21 PM.

Geez and she's 50? Far out. I'm pretty sure I never looked that good even before children and age tore my young body from me and replaced it with this one.

If you've got it flaunt it.....I don't so I won't.
I do agree that the magazine and Deborah Hutton should have been honest about the photo.I am beautiful inside and out so I should love myself unconditionally.

Re: Womens Weekly - nude cover.
She was honest in her interview Heather and did not deny any airbrushing but not as much that is being speculated....

I mean look at Elle McPherson she has a great body at 46 and she has had kids... Claudia Schiffer is the same and even Bo Derek is great for her age and don't forget how great Helen Mirren looks. Some woman are just very lucky and they do have to work damn hard to keep looking that good......

True. I think it's partly genetics and partly a huge amount of work (diet and exercise, and probably a whole entourage of people helping with that) that helps them look so good. I'm pretty sure even if I was at my optimum health I wouldn't achieve that kind of figure.
