1 year on from Qld floods
One year ago we all watched in horror as people and houses were washed away I know its something I will never forget.
So many people are still waiting for insurance to help them move into a home

Yes....some horrific scenes.
I am beautiful inside and out so I should love myself unconditionally.
Weather it be or weather it not Heather complains 'cause it's far from hot
Her disdain for the rain is catching on quickly To Mad Old Cow she can be quite prickly
Grab jumper, a scarf or even a dog.
That'll warm you up, you jolly great snob!!

Re: 1 year on from Qld floods
So sad & just does not seem right that some people are still without homes, this is where I wonder at times where all that money went to that was donated ??
I hope we never see anything like that again or the Victorian bushfires

Re: 1 year on from Qld floods
Di the Army Officer in charge of the rebuidling said the money that was donated is in a different kitty and it is still getting used for the rebuilding. The peoples homes are under their own insurance the problem is different insurance had different wording on what is actually a flood its crazy that have got away with it

Re: 1 year on from Qld floods
Still heaps of houses in my suburb (and surrounding suburbs) that haven't even begun rebuilding yet. One fella has a different abusive sign directed towards RACQ out the front of his house every week lol good on him too poor bugger. Pretty sad when the shopping centres get fixed straight away but people are still living in gutted houses.
On the 10th of Jan 2011 I had a job interview. To get to that interview I was confronted with a flooded creek that would have come up to the bottom of my doors, no way I was driving through it so I called the guy I was meant to have the interview with and he came across the flooded bridge in his 4WD and picked me up. After the interview, which was only about 30mins, the creek had risen so high even trucks were hesitant in crossing but this guy.. drove straight through it and the water was almost up to the bonnet. Scared the heck out of me! I got in my car and drove to my sisters and told her that there was no way I would be able to get home.. and I couldn't, for 4 days! Luckily I live on a hill and my house was safe...I am one of a lucky few in my suburb and I do count my blessings.
My heart goes out to each and every person who went through this dreadful ordeal and I thank God for each and every volunteer who pulled the wellies on and got in amoungst the mess and smell to help out in the aftermath.
