Sherlock Holmes
We saw this Sunday night, it was good, not great mind you, Robert Downey Jnr was his usual brilliance, Jude Law also good, but it was far too long and well to be honest a bit dry in parts.
Wait till DVD, there are way better movies to see at the moment.
I went and saw "We Bought A Zoo" and loved it.
Iron Lady is brilliant.
The new John le Carre movie "Tinker Tailor Soilder Spy" with Gary Oldman looks fantastic.
As does "Hugo".
And "Descendants" with George Clooney, lucky we won a double pass to this.
Love this time of year, with the award season just around the corner."Assumptions are the tools of fools and the bedfellows of dreamers. If you want to know something just ask..."

Re: Sherlock Holmes
I saw "Sherlock Holmes" just last week...thoroughly enjoyed it.
I am beautiful inside and out so I should love myself unconditionally.

Re: Sherlock Holmes
That was my sister's assessment too, and she's a Sherlock Holmes (books) fan.
I wanted to take Hugo to see Hugo (not because of the name thing, because I think it looks like his kind of movie) but he refuses to go (I think BECAUSE of the name thing, oddly enough). He doesn't even want to see Tin Tin
or the Muppets
I heard Iron Lady was mostly about her later years and not the political stuff. S is a big fan of the political genre (unsurprisingly) ... is there enough of it to make it interesting?

Re: Sherlock Holmes
Iron Lady not very well recieved in some quarters over here. Our crictics have panned it.
Did it make much of the IRA bombing of The Grand at Brighton Alex?IF I AM NOT ON HERE, IT IS BECAUSE I AM DOING HOUSEWORK BECAUSE MY COMPUTOR HAS BROKEN!

Re: Sherlock Holmes
Um not that I remember, really I can't believe that it was panned in England, people are comparing it to the Kings Speech. I personally think the Kings Speech is far better, my dad knows a lot about politics and seems to remember things that weren't in the movie. I guess as a fan of Meryl I thought she portrayed Maggie in a great way.

Re: Sherlock Holmes
I quite fancied seeing it as in the trailers Meryl Streep seemed to have got Maggie off to a T ( Would have had to go on my own as KP does not like Maggie,to put it milsly!! lol )
Reviews have all been good for Meryls portrayal, " Streep is doing what she does best in the awards season" Whatever that may mean. But most of them say that it is too jumpy & focuses more on the latter years.
The bombing was MASSIVE!! People died, Maggie herself walked out of her room into a bathroom one minute before the bomb went off,her room was practically destroyed. Can't believe they didn't show that
People here are comparing it to the Kings Speech....not favourably though.
Bet it gets at least one Oscar & makes sheds loads of money
