We can take anything to our tip, it does cost money but usually between $15 and $30 depending on how big the load. We get 2 free tip passes from the council per year. They have a recycle centre as well, basically when you stop on the weigh bridge going in the worker will ask what you have and pick out stuff for the recycle centre them and the rest we take through and dump. There are different sections for different types of waste, green waste, wood, old appliances, building material etc.

I can see your posts CB

I could go to any off our tips ( various skips for different stuff ) 5 days a week, with a car load every time & it wouldn't cost me a penny

If we have large items, eg,sofa's fridges ,freezers etc, I would ring the council up, place the item kerbside & they usually collect in 3/4days. Local supermarkets also have recycling bins for paper, glass, tins, shoes & clothes.

I remember that. In Denmark, they had bottle recycling bins everywhere, just randomly placed on the street. Or you could take your recyclable bottles to the supermarket and get the cash back on them (they charge an additional amount, usually about 5kroner on recyclable bottles which you get back when you return them, to encourage recycling I guess.)

I can remember when I was a kid they did that with cans and bottles right here in Australia. We used to take them back to our local corner shop and get a few cents for them

I remember taking milk & pop bottles back to the shop

Also remember going to the pubs back yard, filching a few bottles & taking them to the front with the words, "My brothers sent his emptys back"!!!
