I think Geoffry Rush is great he promotes Australia does a lot of charity work helps young Aussie actors and even though he works overseas is always coming back here.
TO KNOW SOMEONE HERE OR THERE WITH WHOM YOU FEEL THERE IS AN UNDERSTANDING IN SPITE OF DISTANCES OR THOUGHTS UNEXPRESSED----THAT CAN MAKE OF THIS EARTH A GARDEN.

    Re: Australian of the Year

i thought the article might tell us what he does for the people of Australia other than being an actor who is paid....
does he volunteer or mentor i wonder......
he is a good actor but the others who were nominated seem to work tirlessy (sp) for the communits...ie Father Chris Reilly and the Morcombes....

    Good choice.
I am beautiful inside and out so I should love myself unconditionally.

Weather it be or weather it not Heather complains 'cause it's far from hot
Her disdain for the rain is catching on quickly To Mad Old Cow she can be quite prickly

That'll warm you up, you jolly great snob!!

    Re: Australian of the Year

I like him not just an actor but he has helped out with charities he helps young Aussie actors and even today he is becoming proactive and asking that filmmakers do a mini series on the boat people and the Aborigines. The arts especially acting get left behind a bit in our sporting nation gee didnt a cricket captain win Australian of the year a while ago?
