Hampers for animal foster carers
So dd wants to put together hampers for animal foster carers, collecting goods for the next 10 weeks and involve the school if they allow it, then put together personalised hampers for the different carers then giving them out for Easter.
I have some ideas, like one carer takes orphaned baby mammals only, another one only takes adult dogs. For the one that takes baby mammals I thought formula, bottles, kitten and puppy food, and for the one that takes adult dogs I thought toys, food, dog treats.
Any ideas on how to do it and what to add to it? I though it would be nice to put in something for the carer too, box of chocolate or bath stuff. It's just a thought at this stage, I don't know how to work it.Vegetarian, nature loving, instinctive parenting working mother. It works for my family

Re: Hampers for animal foster carers
What a wonderful idea.
I guess you could do it like a Christmas box idea. Supply shoe boxes to the children at the school and ask them to fill it. Or take in a clothes basket to each classroom and aske familys to donate something suitable. You could maybe even add and "ideas" list. People might donates small rugs "joey pouches"You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only option left.

Its a lovely thought LMF maybe check with the carers to see what they would need in them.
I like the idea of something for the carer as well

Re: Hampers for animal foster carers
I like the idea of the clothes basket in each room. We got our kitten from a foster carer and she currently has the last of one litter, who is 10 weeks, and another 7 week old litter. The 7 week olds have been with her from just a few days old. They are classed as FFT and she has just put them onto 3 hourly feeds through the day and 4 overnight. She got them when they needed 2 hourly round-the-clock feeds, just when she went to 3 hourly with the other lot. That's pretty much 10 weeks of no sleep. I think she's amazing, as are all other selfless carers. When I picked up my baby, I gave her some formula, a kitty play mat, some boxes of kitten food sachets, a pack of dry food, and a bag of crystal litter. I see all the kittens play on the play mat which is great to see, but the formula was only 2 weeks worth, the litter and food only 1 weeks worth, so it gave me an idea of how much they go through. Then there is the flea treatment, worm pills, and many other things they go through.
Jen, I want to personalise it for each one, and I think they deserve a treat or some pampering.Last edited by LoveMyFamily; 26-01-2012 at 04:41 PM.

Re: Hampers for animal foster carers
That sounds like a great idea....I know where I live they are always looking for blankets. They use a wheelie bin in a supermarket to collect them. I am sure the schools would love to help...kids love animals and what a great cause. The clothes basket in each classroom sounds great as they are big enough for a blanket or two as well. Well done to your DD for being so caring.

Even if the children or parents donate a gold coin....it all helps.
I am beautiful inside and out so I should love myself unconditionally.

Re: Hampers for animal foster carers
The first thing you will have to do is ask the school - I know my kids school had a rule where it was only one external fund raiser per year (external as in not raising money for the school) - for quite a few years they had stuck with crazy hair day for this as it could involve all parents and children.
They have quite firm criteria on guidleines for fund raising and donation requesting.
But your school could operate differently - good luck with it!
