Re: My Kitchen Rules.....
I've been watching it and quite enjoying it, but it really bugs me that every time they have a season of this show all the Melbourne people are so snobby and objectionable, and then they can't cook to save themselves. I knew those two were doomed when the first thing they did was start faffing around with the cheesecake instead of seasoning the lamb for the koftas and whipping it into the fridge to marinate which would have taken about a minute. Honestly when that girl was standing in the kitchen stuffing her face with cheesecake and raving about how 'good' it was I was just waiting for a tray to hit the floor and the guy to turn around and discover she had just eaten all his backups

The episode last night was fun though, I felt a bit sorry for the two NSW girls, although they really did bring it on themselves to an extent. Who on earth cooks a meal for a televised competition without having at least one trial run first? Because they clearly had never been in that supermarket before, they had no idea if there was an Asian section, let alone where it might be and they kept stuffing up dishes through not knowing how much product they had to cook to make twelve equal servings.
You better believe if I was in that competition (which I wouldn't be because I can't cook) I would be calling up all my friends and getting twelve of them over for dinner and then racing down to the 'sponsor' supermarket (Coles) with my shopping list in my hot little hand to find what ingredients they don't have or only stock small amounts of, and where else I can source them, and then making the entire meal for my guests so I can see exactly how much of everything I need to cook and how long it's going to take me to make twelve servings. There's no excuse for not being prepared...
Also, was anyone else waiting for Gary and Manu to ding the girls for serving them a soup made from frozen peas and store bought stock? I was waiting for one of them to say that the peas tasted funny and wanted to see their expressions when the girls told them that they weren't fresh or homemade...'There's a pink suede elephant in the middle of the room and no-one's allowed to talk about it!' - Miranda Hobbs

Re: My Kitchen Rules.....
The soup was in a jar, and it looked very much like baby food to me (strained peas in a jar? seriously?) and there was supposed to be a 'parmesan pillow' served with it, but they couldn't find the right agar-agar and the whole think looked like slop so they binned it and just served the soup - which they didn't make enough of to go around, hence the tiny portions.

I'm no chef I'm a reasonable cook I think I could do better than some of them.
TO KNOW SOMEONE HERE OR THERE WITH WHOM YOU FEEL THERE IS AN UNDERSTANDING IN SPITE OF DISTANCES OR THOUGHTS UNEXPRESSED----THAT CAN MAKE OF THIS EARTH A GARDEN.
