I don't understand soccer riots. I can't imagine getting so emotionally invested in a GAME that I would be willing to get into a riot over the outcome.

    OMG how awful..

I agree - we are so lucky in Australia- you can go to a footy match and take children and barrack for oppossing team and never more than a bit of a scuffle, odd verbal bit that gets out of hand, supporters of both teams sit next to each other, leave together etc - in England I beleive supporters are separated by barbed wire, for their own safety and leave stadiums separately.

I go to many local level and AFL level matches and have never felt in any physical danger whatsoever.

It's not just over the game. It's an ongoing problem of civil unrest that has been plaguing Egypt since last year.

It was obvious that some of the crowd ( I will not call them supporters ) went to cause trouble. They were armed with those rocket things they were throwing.

It is absolutely disgusting when a minority will use what should be politically free sport to air their views....and kill and maim innocents in the process.
