An Asian girl I worked with once did the same thing with strawberries (salting them I mean). I thought she was confused and thought it was sugar but she told me no, the salt enhances the sweet flavour of the fruit.

If I eat an apple, it has to be cut up and must be crisp, fresh and juicy.
Floury apples are horrid and not useful for anything except adding to compost (minus the seeds).

Have never had an apple sandwich - would be very crunchy
Or do you mean spread with stewed apples - which I guess would be similar to a jam sandwich

We live near an orchard so we buy direct from there. I buy granny smith to cook with , (apple slice yum!) and Pink Lady's to eat.
