Wouldn't rush it Mel, I cant stand any custard think I had it when I was a kid once,

used to make it for my kids they used to fight over who got the most lumps, (I never let them down not once)

You could just go and get a mint mud cake or anything else you like from The Cheesecake Shop. Spend the time that you would otherwise spend mucking around with home made dessert doing something more enjoyable.

I agree with Stormy - easiest recipe: go to supermarket, open freezer, pick frozen dessert

If you dont like trifle because of the soggy cake or the custard - you could just make a jelly in a nice bowl and put tinned fruit salad in it.
Not fancy but always a winner, everyone eats it.
Or just take a fruit platter - cut up slices of melon, oranges, kiwi fruit, strawberries and arrange artistically on a platter. I often take that when we are asked to an event and it is bring a plate dessert, always seems to go well and different to the cheesecakes etc that people make (or they often bring bought ones)
