Chicken with Gynecological Problem

I was just on the phone with my SIL she was telling me they had 2 pet chooks they had them from baby chic's named Blondie & Rusty both females.
One chook, Rusty got very sick her fanny/bum was swollen & she was'nt eating so SIL took her to the Vet who then sent her to a specialist that deals with birds the specialist told SIL that the problem was caused by the injection the chics get when they are born into the likes of Steggles etc to make them grow bigger faster & Blondie will probably have the same problem one day SIL asked what could be done to help her & specialist said that Rusty needed a Hysterectomy but said it is not what you would normally do with a chicken & that it was kinder to put her to sleep which is what SIL did, She said she had not cried that much for a long time
So incase you are wondering lol I am telling you this story because of the injection that makes them grow faster I wonder if it does anything to us that eat them

It does Red, when you think it got the needle as a little chic & it was a full grown chook when it got the fanny problem, I find it hard to believe that it does nothing to us over a long period of eating chicken

That's pretty awful. I buy free range organic eggs because I hate the living conditions of battery hens and I tend to buy organic chicken (usually a smaller amount) - do the organic ones get that injection?

Hearing that makes you wonder what we're ingesting that we have no idea about.

I don't know if the organic ones get it but they should'nt it may be worth asking your local Vet Naomi & then let us know
The thing is my SIL got the chic at 2 weeks old from her grandsons school & once she took them home they were treating the large property like their home & only put to bed in a cage at night time

Judging by the size of some of the high school kids, maybe chicken makes them grow bigger faster as well

Your poor sister.....we all know how hard it is to have to make that big decision.
I try and buy free range too because of the horrific conditions battery hens face.
