The Ultimate Guide to Productivity
I have been tagged by Ponn for the ultimate guide to productivity meme. She actually tagged me 2 days ago a week ago, so that in itself is a very good indication of my wonderful productivity skills (or lack there of) and my world class procrastination.
I see Meg was also tagged, and her post rings very true for me and I identify with most of what she said. I am the queen of procrastination, so easily distracted, disorganised is an understatement, always putting things off and I also have the memory of a rock.. the list of my excuses could go on. All these things are something I would really like to work on and change in my on line and off line life. I really think they are holding me back.
I have none of my own tips to offer, nor would you want them. Instead I have many wonderful ideas I have come across this week from reading others.
- Getting up earlier. I know this works for me, getting up at 5:30. What I get done in that 1 1/2hr before the kids wake up is probably more than I would in the rest of the day.
- I came across this idea this morning, and I think it is fantastic, well part of it. I, and I bet many others have soo many feeds in your reader. Steve Pavlina says “Split your RSS feeds into two lists: those that help boost your productivity vs. those that taketh it away. Force yourself to unsubscribe from all the feeds in the second list. You won’t miss them” Like me, that may have made you gasp “Noooo I can’t delete them, that’s a bit harsh, I will miss them!” I think the splitting in 2 is a great idea, but instead of deleting the others, save them for later when you don’t need to be doing any work.
- Read the rest of Steve’s 3 part series 33 rules to boost your productivity so many great tips and ideas there!
- The Positivity Blog and their One simple way to reduce procrastination is also a great read.
Everyone has been tagged in the week it took me to reply, so anyone left who hasn’t been tagged…you are now.

Hi Leigh
Glad I’m not alone
I was going to tag you, but was loathe to create extra work so hot on the heels of the last tag!
EEEKK! 5.30am I just couldn’t do it intentionally. I am NOT a morning person. Will check out the other links – thanks.
Hi Leigh!
Great points. Thanks for sharing your research on this topic. I’m a big fan to getting up early morning before the house begins to buzz.
But, I’m finding that taking an one-hour nap here to there throughout the day or night, wakes me up to some of my best work. Sounds kindof unconventional, but I can’t toss and turn in bed if I happen to wake up so I get up and write.
Speaking of memes–didn’t you tag me about a week ago too? Still trying to fit that post in
BTW, I thought of you today, when you recommended ‘kicking everyone out of he house’…with the awesome weather creeping up, it was much easier to have them play in the yard for a couple hours while I tapped on my keyboard. So, see you do have some good “productivity” tips afterall!
Don’t be so hard on yourself!
Peace, Ponn
P.S. Don’t forget to credit Ben at his original post you initiated this meme:
